Two Halves Book Club
Privacy notice
This is a small, free book club run by volunteers. We keep as little information as we can, and here's what we do with it.
What we collect
When you sign up we ask for:
- your first name,
- your email address,
- which weeknights suit you,
- what you like reading (optional),
- how you heard about us (optional),
- whether you're happy to get the occasional email from us,
- a short tag showing which link you arrived from (for example, which Instagram post), so we know what's working.
We don't use tracking cookies. We use Vercel's privacy-friendly analytics to count visits, which doesn't identify you personally.
Why we use it
To organise the club: picking a weeknight that suits most people, getting a sense of what the group likes to read, and letting you know what's happening. If you ticked the box, we may also email you about the club now and then. You can change your mind at any time by emailing us.
Our lawful basis under UK GDPR is our legitimate interest in running the club, and your consent for any emails.
Who sees it
Only the club organisers. Your details are stored securely with Supabase (our database provider) and the site is hosted on Vercel. We never sell your details or share them with anyone else.
Our WhatsApp group is run on WhatsApp, which has its own privacy policy. Joining it is up to you.
How long we keep it
Until you ask us to delete it, or until the club winds up, whichever comes first.
Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Just message us on Instagram (@twohalvesbookclub) and we'll sort it out. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your details you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Questions
Just message us on Instagram (@twohalvesbookclub). We're a small club, so a real person will reply.
